Nothing to Wear

Having kids makes life a lot harder. And having 2 kids is a lot harder than having 1 kid. This is not news to me (or to any other parent), but I was reminded of it today. My husband and I are going to a dinner event tonight with some friends and family, and I foolishly waited until this morning to try to figure out what to wear. I tried on outfit after outfit, and just about everything I own either doesn't fit or is outdated. The remaining items are either too hot to wear in July or too casual for tonight. Feeling a little depressed, I asked my sister if I could raid her closet (she lives about 15 minutes away), but when I realized how much effort it would take to get the kids ready, pack up the car, drive over to her house, get the kids out of the car, drag them inside, try to watch them while looking through her closet and trying things on, get them back into the car, drive back home, and unload them and all our stuff... well, I just felt tired. So I decided to just make do with what I have. I still have no idea what I'm going to wear. Think anyone would notice if I just showed up in my usual uniform of capri sweats and a tank top? :)

Summer Shopping

Went shopping at a nearby outlet center today with my mom and the kids. We only hit several kids' clothes stores (do I ever go to any other kinds of stores anymore? haha), but it was a nice time, even though it is super hot and humid out today! I love a good deal, and I found quite a few today at the Gymboree and Carter's outlets. Since we're a family of 4 living on one income, I'm always looking for ways to save money, and getting the kids' clothes for less has become a real hobby for me. I used to have no idea what good deals you can get if you just look a little! Like these 3 pairs of adorable shorts I got for E today at Gymboree for a total of $17!

Now I'm off to make dinner from this great recipe book my mom picked up for me in the library discard pile at her school: Cheap. Fast. Good! Tonight I'm making "Cheryl's Tortellini and Spinach Soup"- yum! :)

Wild Safari

We took a couple of day trips during our "vacation," and one of them was to the Wild Safari, a drive-thru safari connected to Six Flags Great Adventure, a nearby amusement park. It is the largest drive-thru safari outside of Africa, and it was really amazing! It was so crazy to see wild animals walking around right next to our car. We really enjoyed it- definitely worth checking out if you're ever in the area. Here are some pics...

Back to Work

My husband went back to work today after a few days off. Just me and the kiddos again. So far so good! M has been busy taking care of "baby doll," and E has spent most of the morning trying to eat his sister's toys. He is really getting the hang of crawling and has realized he can follow M from room to room. Not sure how much she's liking it, but it's really cute. :)
